DRAGADOS Appointed to Deliver England’s Next-Generation Healthcare Infrastructure through Hospital 2.0 Alliance
DRAGADOS
DRAGADOS, part of the ACS Group, has been selected to join the New Hospital Programme’s Hospital 2.0 Alliance, a significant step forward in delivering England’s most ambitious hospital building initiative in a generation.
The Hospital 2.0 Alliance brings together NHS organisations and leading industry partners to transform how hospitals are designed, built and delivered across England. This new collaborative model focuses on standardised, modern methods of construction that will accelerate delivery, enhance quality and create a more sustainable approach to future healthcare infrastructure. Dragados is one of 10 construction partners selected.
As a member of the Alliance, DRAGADOS will contribute its international expertise in delivering large-scale healthcare and public infrastructure, supporting the Programme’s ambition to build hospitals faster, digitally enabled and designed around patient and staff needs. With a strong track record across Europe and other international markets, Dragados applies advanced digital design and modern construction methods to enhance efficiency, quality and safety.
Minister of State for Health Karin Smyth said:
“This Government is making the long-term investment required to rebuild and modernise our NHS, and the Hospital 2.0 Alliance is central to that commitment.
By backing a standardised approach to hospital building, we are giving the construction sector the certainty it needs to invest in skills, capacity and innovation.
This is about partnering with industry to deliver better hospitals faster, while driving productivity and value for the NHS and adding to the economic growth of the entire country.”
Natalie Forrest, Chief Programme Officer at the New Hospital Programme, said:
“This is a defining moment for the New Hospital Programme and for healthcare construction in England. The Hospital 2.0 Alliance is about more than building hospitals – it is about transforming how we deliver them.
By bringing together DHSC, NHS England, Trusts, and industry partners under a true alliance model, we are creating the conditions for faster delivery, better value, and consistent quality at scale.
The appointment of these construction partners is critical to our capacity and capability, and reflects a shared commitment to collaboration, innovation and longterm investment in skills and social value. Together, we are building a sustainable model that will support the NHS for decades to come.”
Juan Santamaría, Chief Executive Officer of ACS Group, said:
"Our appointment to the Hospital 2.0 Alliance reflects the confidence placed in our teams and our long-standing commitment to delivering complex public infrastructure at scale.
This programme represents an important step forward in modernising healthcare delivery across England. By applying our experience in digital design, modern construction methods and collaborative contracting, we will help accelerate the delivery of hospitals that are resilient, efficient and better aligned to patient and staff needs."
Steve Holmes, Managing Director of Dragados UK & Ireland, said:
“Being appointed to the Hospital 2.0 Alliance reflects our commitment to innovation, collaboration and delivering high-quality healthcare environments.
We look forward to working alongside the New Hospital Programme, NHS trusts and partners and the wider supply chain to help shape the next generation of hospitals for communities across England.”
This appointment further strengthens Dragados’ strategic commitment to the UK, reinforcing its role as a long-term infrastructure partner bringing specialist capability and delivering social value, innovation and sustainable growth.
Dragados looks forward to playing a central role in delivering a modern and resilient hospital estate that meets the needs of patients, staff and communities for decades to come.
