DRAGADOS appointed to deliver next-generation West Suffolk Foundation Trust Hospital under UK New Hospital Programme
DRAGADOS
DRAGADOS, part of the ACS Group, has been appointed to deliver the new West Suffolk Foundation Trust Hospital under the UK Government's New Hospital Programme (NHP), marking a major milestone in the modernisation of healthcare infrastructure across England.
The appointment follows the company's selection in March to join the Hospital 2.0 Alliance — a collaborative delivery model designed to transform how hospitals are delivered and maintained.
Working in partnership with West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (WSFT) and the New Hospital Programme team, DRAGADOS will deliver the replacement West Suffolk Hospital, replacing ageing hospital buildings with a modern, efficient and future-proof healthcare facility.
The new hospital will be designed around the needs of patients, staff and the wider community and will deliver clear, tangible benefits for the NHS, including:

The project will adopt platform-based design and standardised components in line with Hospital 2.0 principles, improving efficiency, consistency and adaptability throughout the hospital’s lifecycle while allowing flexibility for local clinical requirements.
Dr Ewen Cameron, West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust Chief Executive, said:
"This is another important milestone in our journey towards delivering a new hospital for West Suffolk.
We welcome the opportunity to work alongside DRAGADOS as we move into the next phase of the programme. Over the coming months we'll continue developing the detailed designs, building on the valuable insight we've received from our staff, patients and local communities.
Together, we're taking another significant step towards delivering modern healthcare facilities that will benefit our communities for generations to come."
Natalie Forrest, Chief Programme Officer at the New Hospital Programme, said:
"The Hospital 2.0 Alliance represents a new way of delivering major public infrastructure. By bringing together NHS organisations and industry as genuine partners, we are creating a collaborative model that combines national consistency with local leadership. Together, we are building the foundations for hospitals that are safer, more sustainable and better equipped to meet the needs of patients and staff for generations to come."
Steve Holmes, Managing Director of DRAGADOS UK & Ireland, said:
"This is a significant moment for DRAGADOS and for the New Hospital Programme. We are proud to be working alongside West Suffolk Hospital and the New Hospital Programme to deliver a modern healthcare facility designed around the needs of patients, staff and the wider community.
Our focus now is on strong collaboration, certainty of delivery and creating long-term value for the NHS and the communities this hospital will serve."
DRAGADOS brings extensive international experience in the delivery of complex hospital and public infrastructure projects, supported by the global capabilities and resources of the ACS Group. DRAGADOS' portfolio includes major hospitals delivered through collaborative procurement models and digitally enabled construction processes, such as Toledo University Hospital, Puerta de Hierro Majadahonda University Hospital and Son Espases University Hospital, among many others across Spain.
Several of these projects were delivered while maintaining the uninterrupted operation of healthcare services through carefully phased construction and refurbishment works.
These projects demonstrate DRAGADOS' ability to manage technically complex healthcare environments, maintain the highest standards of health and safety, and deliver high-quality outcomes through integrated and collaborative delivery models.
The project further reinforces DRAGADOS' long-term commitment to the UK, supporting investment in skills, innovation, regional supply chains and social value, while contributing to the modernisation of the NHS estate.
